Attempting abduction...

:ufo: Submission Guidelines :ufo:

Group Focus: Science Fiction Aliens ■
We focus on the science fiction aspect of aliens from planets, space stations, ships, and dimensions not of Earth.

■ Follow the ToS ■
Submissions must follow deviantART's Terms of Service. If it's not allowed on :devart:, it isn't allowed here.

■ Your original creations only ■
No screenshots, official art, traces, or game models.

We do believe an extraterrestrial can look like anything, and as an artist/writer it is 100% in your right to create anything you desire, but our group focuses on visually unique concepts seen within the Science Fiction genre that don't heavily resemble any creatures (or humans), on Earth.

Though we accept a large variety of aliens, the more alien "looking", the better. We focus on the visual, as we want the viewer of your work to be able to properly identify that the image is indeed of an alien, without having to read a long description or research your gallery to find that information.

This also goes for culture/environments/utensils/etc. We realize that it can be quite difficult to re-imagine everyday items like clothing, household items, weapons, and buildings, but we would heavily appreciate it if your alien wasn't thrown into a fantasy setting that makes it extremely difficult to identify that the character is an alien.

What We Accept

■ Fan art and original characters. All mediums and skill levels are welcome.
■ Humanoid Aliens ( Aliens that stand erect and up on two legs like a human)
■ Humanoid Aliens with Fur ( they may look anthro/furry, but so long as they do not resemble any Earth animals, they're accepted).
■ Insectoids (please make sure they don't outright resemble any Earth insects, arachnids, etc)
■ Reptiles (they must not heavily resemble Earth reptiles or amphibians - this may be subjective).
■ Plant Aliens
■ Alien Creatures/Animals
■ Energy Beings (they must have a shape, not just pure light or a sphere. Example: The Drej from Titan A.E.)
■ Mechanical/Robotic (such as the Transformers or the Geth as examples)
■ Humans (if an alien is present)
■ Real Life Aliens (Aliens that people have claimed to see such as the Greys and Reptilians but we do not accept the ones that look like humans).
■ Rubber Forehead Aliens ( Fan Art Only - such as the Cardassians, Talaxians, and Ferengi of Star Trek, as examples). We will also accept species such as the Asari and Twi'leks.
■ Alien Worlds and Environments (an alien must be present - case by case basis)
■ Space Art outside of our solar system

What We Do NOT Accept

■ Human Aliens ( such as Superman)
■ Humans with Rainbow Skin (Blue, Green, Red, etc colored "humans" passed off as alien).
■ Space Elves (Humans with pointed ears).
■ Earth Animals of any kind (Hybrids, Cyborgs, Furries/Anthros).
■ Earth Mythological Creatures (Centaurs, Mermaids, Minotaurs, etc).
■ Elemental Aliens (Fire, Water, Rock, etc).
■ Blobs/Goo
■ Anything that looks like it would belong in a Fantasy setting ( something that resembles a troll, goblin, ogre, fairy - or fantasy environment)
■ Anything that heavily resembles time periods found on Earth.

(Note: If your alien is a humanoid that has a different color skin tone and elven ears, so long as the face is not identical to a human, it may be acceptable).

Additional

■ We have the right to decline your submission if we feel it does not represent this Group's interests, but we will provide an explanation as to why it was declined if asked. We will not tolerate rude behavior.

■ If your submission is declined for any reason, recheck over the rules and check our gallery before asking us why.

■ We ask that your aliens and submissions have a minimum of 3 qualities that make them alien. For this reason, we do NOT accept aliens such as Superman. The goal of this Group is to have truly alien looking aliens. Humans with pointed years or a blue skin tone is just not enough to be accepted. However, in some rare cases, we may accept things on a case by case basis. This rule may change in the future.

■ Quality > Quantity: Please submit your best!

■ For your fan art, please keep things canon.

Thank you and enjoy the Group! :alien:

Hello everyone. We were on hiatus for awhile, only accepting a tiny number of submissions here and there, but we'll be much more active starting now.

I wanted to write up a refresher on our submission guidelines. As I was going through our old messages, I unfortunately came across a large number of submissions that don't match our guidelines, and had to be declined.

Our current rules:

- Your submissions must be ORIGINAL creations you have made, only. We do not accept screenshots, official art, traces, figures/statues/toys, or game models.

- Your aliens must be recognizably alien to the viewer WITHOUT the need to read your description or research your gallery to know what they are looking at. If you're taking a photograph of physical media you've created, please take good, clear photos at angles that best show off your alien so the viewer knows what they're looking at.

We do believe an extraterrestrial can look like anything, and as an artist/writer it is 100% in your right to create anything you desire, but our group focuses on visually unique concepts that don't heavily resemble any creatures (or humans), on Earth. We're mainly focused on Sapient Creature and Humanoid looking aliens.

We do NOT accept:
- Human Aliens ( such as Superman)
- Humans with Rainbow Skin (Blue, Green, Red, etc colored "humans" passed off as alien).
- Space Elves (Humans with pointed ears).
- Earth Animals of any kind (Hybrids, Cyborgs, Furries/Anthros).
- Earth Mythological Creatures (Centaurs, Mermaids, Minotaurs, etc).

(Note: If your alien is a humanoid that has a different color skin tone and elven ears, so long as the face is not identical to a human, it may be acceptable).

What we DO accept:
- Rubber Forehead Aliens ( Fan Art Only - such as the Cardassians, Talaxians, and Ferengi of Star Trek, as examples). We will also accept species such as the Asari and Twi'leks.
- Humanoid Aliens ( Aliens that stand erect and up on two legs like a human)
- Humanoid Aliens with Fur ( they may look anthro/furry, but so long as they do not resemble any Earth animals, they're accepted).
- Insectoids (please make sure they don't outright resemble any Earth insects, arachnids, etc)
- Reptiles (they must not heavily resemble Earth reptiles or amphibians - this may be subjective).
- Plant Aliens
- Alien Creatures/Animals
- Energy Beings (they must have a shape, not just pure light or a sphere. Example: The Drej from Titan A.E.)
- Mechanical Robotic (such as the Transformers or the Geth as examples)
- Humans (if an alien is present, or they are on an alien world)
- Real Life Aliens (Aliens that people have claimed to see such as the Greys and Reptilians but we do not accept the ones that look like humans).

If your alien is Primitive and reflects that by wearing primitive clothing or holding primitive weapons, it can be mistaken for a fantasy creature/monster such as an Ogre, Troll, Goblin, etc. We ask that in cases such as this, to please include some form of Science Fiction aspect to your alien such as an alien environment/world, technology, etc.

We recognize Aliens as Science Fiction, which further drives home that they are alien by including Sci-Fi elements into your drawings, such as weapons, tools, gadgets, holograms, Sci-Fi clothing designs, environments, etc. If we have doubts that your alien follows our guidelines, we may accept it if it contains sci-fi elements.

This also goes for culture/environments/ect. We realize that it can be quite difficult to re-imagine everyday items like clothing, household items, weapons, and buildings, but we would heavily appreciate it if your alien wasn't thrown into a fantasy or modern Earth setting that makes it extremely difficult to identify that the character is an alien.

- We have the right to decline your submission if we feel it does not represent this Group's interests, but we will provide a polite explanation as to why it was declined if asked. We will not tolerate rude behavior.

- If your submission is declined for any reason, recheck over the rules and check our gallery before asking us why.

- If you are unsure if your submission qualifies, feel free to ask us and we will let you know our thoughts.

- In some rare cases, we may accept things on a case by case basis. This rule may change in the future.

Thank you and if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask us, and we hope you continue to enjoy the Group.

One question.

I recently did a drawing that depicts my own take of the Nordic Aliens (The blonde-haired guy is NOT the actual alien. It's the little blue fluke worm floating right in front of him) fav.me/d7kpikw

Does this still qualify, or is there too much human to be admitted for submission?

Your artwork would qualify. Aliens of all shapes and sizes are welcome here, even if the alien is small and accompanied with a human.

Of course, if the alien was ant size or smaller, we'd need a better, larger visual image. =p

Oh yeah! Y'know, I was actually thinking of a re-do in the picture now that I know what could be swapped around.

Thank you for letting me know! I just wasn't sure at first because I hadn't entirely paid mind to the rules.
